NEO S Deadmau5 5-Fret Fortnite Festival Edition: Setup and Features

Quick answer

To set up the NEO S Deadmau5 5-Fret Fortnite Festival Edition, attach the 5-fret guitar grip, pair the controller with your device, and configure button mapping in the game. This guide walks you through each step and highlights the exclusive Deadmau5-inspired design features.

Step-by-step setup guide

1. Attach the 5-fret grip: Align the 5-fret attachment with the controller's connection port and slide it in until it clicks. Make sure it's fully seated to avoid input issues during gameplay. Check that the attachment clicks securely; a loose connection can cause missed notes.
2. Power on and pair: Turn on the controller and put it in pairing mode (refer to the manual for the specific button combination). On Switch, go to Controllers > Change Grip/Order; on PC, open Bluetooth settings and select 'NEO S' from the list. If pairing fails, turn off the controller and retry after a few seconds.
3. Configure in-game controls: Launch Fortnite Festival and go to Settings > Controller Options. Map the fret buttons to the desired inputs, or use the default layout if available. Test the mapping in a practice session. Save your custom layout; otherwise, the game may revert to default settings.
4. Adjust for comfort and performance: Hold the controller with the fret attachment facing upward. Adjust your grip for comfortable access to the fret buttons, and ensure the shoulder buttons are within easy reach. Take breaks if your hands feel strained; proper posture prevents fatigue.
5. Switch back to gamepad mode: When you're done with rhythm games, detach the 5-fret attachment and store it safely. The controller works as a standard gamepad for other titles. Store the attachment in a safe place to avoid losing it.
