Compare CRKD's ATOM OG Grey and ATOM+ Pal Grey keychain controllers: features, price, and which budget pad fits your gaming style.
Quick Answer
If you want the cheapest, ultra-portable keychain pad for casual play, choose the ATOM OG Grey Edition. If you need dual sticks, triggers, and drift-resistant thumbsticks for more serious gaming on the go, the ATOM+ Pal Grey Edition is worth the extra $5.
Why the Price Difference Matters
The ATOM OG Grey Edition sits at $13.79, while the ATOM+ Pal Grey Edition costs $18.59. That $4.80 gap buys you a more complete control layout and newer thumbstick technology, so the decision really comes down to how you plan to play.
If you mostly play simple platformers or puzzle games on a phone or tablet, the ATOM OG's compact design is enough. But if you're into shooters or titles that need precise camera control, the ATOM+ Pal's dual sticks and shoulder buttons will make a noticeable difference.
Compatibility and Portability
Both controllers work with Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, mobile devices, tablets, and Smart TVs, so you won't lose any platform support by choosing the cheaper option. The ATOM OG is designed as a keychain companion, making it slightly more pocket-friendly, while the ATOM+ Pal is still palm-sized but packs in more controls.
If you're a collector, the ATOM OG's one-of-a-kind keychain form factor is a fun addition to a shelf. The ATOM+ Pal, on the other hand, is more of a daily driver that you'll actually want to use for longer sessions.
Controls and Stick Drift
The biggest spec difference is the ATOM+ Pal's TMR thumbsticks, which are designed to resist stick drift. The ATOM OG doesn't advertise this feature, so if you've had drift issues with other controllers, the ATOM+ Pal is the safer bet.
The ATOM+ Pal also includes dual sticks, triggers, and shoulder buttons, giving you a full control layout. The ATOM OG is more minimal, which keeps it lighter and simpler but limits the types of games you can comfortably play.
Trade-Offs at a Glance
- Price vs. Features: The ATOM OG saves you $4.80 but lacks dual sticks and triggers. If your game library is mostly simple titles, the savings are worth it. Set a budget and check your most-played games before deciding.
- Portability vs. Control: The ATOM OG's keychain design is more portable, but the ATOM+ Pal's full layout gives you more control for action-heavy games. Think about where you'll carry it: on keys or in a bag.
- Drift Resistance vs. Simplicity: The ATOM+ Pal's TMR thumbsticks are a major upgrade if you've dealt with drift before. The ATOM OG doesn't advertise this feature. If drift has ruined past controllers, prioritize the ATOM+ Pal.
